A bit different to the usual dance resources I upload. However, I have created a 1 hour lesson delivery PowerPoint on the theme of social media and how people on social media don’t always show their true selves. Please note, this PowerPoint does not cover cyber crimes, grooming etc. It is much more about how young people may feel about themselves and how they might compare themselves to others based on what they see online.
In this PowerPoint you will find lesson objectives, a bell activity (starter), discussion tasks, talking points, TIF tasks and links to YouTube clips (one clip is also embedded). I have also included a marking sheet that can be stuck into pupils books to aid quick marking.
My Y10 tutor group loved it and really got stuck in. I hope yours do too.
This bundle includes all the Year 8 dance schemes of learning that I will be delivering from September 2022

This ‘Gumboot Dance’ 6 lesson SOL is for teachers teaching KS3 dance.
This SOL explores the history and evolution of South African Gumboot dance. Pupils will gain and develop basic dance appreciation skills through watching clips of Gumboot dancing and '“Gumboots” Through the eyes of Michael Moloi which will lead into discussions about the history of the style in relation to actions, space, dynamics and relationships. Props are introduced from lesson 4 and inspiration on how to use them is drawn from Stomp the Musical. Pupils will gain and develop basic performance and choreography skills through working as a whole class to perform set Gumboot rhythms using unison, repetition and action and reaction. Working in small groups, pupils are encouraged to be creative and are allocated time to experiment and improvise choreographic ideas with their groups resulting in a group performance of their Gumboot choreographies that include a prop. Pupils will have the opportunity to view each other’s work and provide feedback to improve their own and other’s work. This SOL also provides pupils with research homework tasks to promote independence and research skills needed at KS4.
